You Know You Are Not In New Jersey any more …

You know you are not in New Jersey any more …

When you see Bill Boards that say “Learn to Shoot Straight“.
When you see road signs such as “Bloody Basin Rd“, “Dead Man’s Gorge, Horse Thief Basin“.
When someone you have engaged in conversations asks … “What’s a chachski?”
When your preferred radio station is … “95.5 Coyote“.
When you are wakened at night in Prescott Valley … to the sound of screaming Coyotes.
When standing outside a workshop in Prescott Valley, an unhurried Road Runner trundles by nonchalantly just a few feet away and his gazes says … “So what are you looking at?

When dust storms are common and rain storms are not.
When the plumber guy advertising on local TV actually is a cowboy.
When that guy standing outside a Prescott store with Western hat, gun belt and holster is consider everyday.

When your daytime, July temperatures look like this … and it’s considered normal.

When you hear yourself saying … “Oh. It’s only going to be 105˚ today. That will be nice“. (Only 105˚!!! Nice!!! Am I friggen kidding me!!!)
When you shop for an outdoor thermometer … and realize that you need one that registers 140˚ and not the standard 120˚.

When you first hear the term and witness “negative rain” … falling rain that evaporates before it hits the ground.
When that Native American looking woman serving you at Home Depot really is a native born Apache.
When a quick trip to the DMV, (MVD in AZ), … is actually a quick trip.
When the man at a 4th of July BBQ is introduced to your Aunt … and he tips his Stetson.
When there is a sudden downpour at a 4th of July BBQ … and the children run outside and dance in the rain with glee.

These things never happened in New Jersey.

Gas $3.32. The adventure continues.
